Dear Students and Parents,
This is just a note to let you know about some big expectations in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes taught by Mrs. Lundt. All of you are Middle-Schoolers now so the following should NOT be too terribly difficult.
* I want this year to be successful for ALL of us. Positive Attitudes go a LONG way! Treat ALL others the way you would like to be treated – this includes teachers and staff!
* All of your papers and projects need to be labeled in the upper RIGHT HAND CORNER with your name and class and DATE! Also, if you tear your papers out of a loose-leaf notebook, PLEASE cut off the “tails”!

at Sacred Heart!)
* All answers to questions need to be written in COMPLETE SENTENCES! I WILL MARK IT WRONG IF IT IS NOT A COMPLETE SENTENCE!
* I will be dividing the Language Arts year between Grammar Lessons and Writing Assignments. I will require you to type MOST of your final papers and stories. We will be incorporating some of our writing time with computer time and learning some neat things about Microsoft Word.
* You will also be required to write 3 times a week in a journal. You will be given about 5 minutes of class time each day. By the end of the week you will have to have filled at least ONE FULL page. I will not be correcting your journals; I just want you to write. I will be looking at them to make sure you are completing the ONE page requirement. This will be graded Pass/Fail. This is YOUR journal containing your opinions – I don’t have to agree with them!
7th and 8th Grade:
*The MAJORITY of our Spelling Pretests will be given on TUESDAYS with FINAL tests being on THURSDAYS!
*You have been given a folder containing ALL of the spelling units for this year. Please refer to them as needed during the course of the year. The first set is a gift from me. DO NOT LOSE THEM, AS YOU WILL BE CHARGED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED! You can practice your spelling words on spellingcity.com (A link for this is on my website).
*We will be reading at least 4 novels through the course of the year. Keep up with the reading schedule and you will be fine.
*** THIS YEAR – All students will be required to have some KIND of silent reading material. You will have extra credit available to you if you do a project on the book you read.
*If you read a novel this summer, put together some kind of book report for me by Friday the 10th and you will receive 10% extra credit on our first Literature test! (Hey, I read 7!)
You will ALL also be expected to comply with the classroom behavior agreement. This means you must follow ALL school rules and complete your homework on time. We will be using the clipboard again this year and three checks will mean a detention. You can receive checks for incomplete work, inappropriate classroom behavior, papers not returned on time, signed papers not returned on time, etc. A note must also be made that ANY staff member can “award” ANY student with a check when necessary. Detentions will be served on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:10 PM – 3:45 PM. You will be responsible for transportation for your child and completion of detention time comes BEFORE any other after school functions.
On the flip side of the discipline policy, students will be rewarded for good behavior with things as specials treats, movie afternoons, etc.
(Please detach and return the bottom to me by next Monday! Your signature will indicate your understanding of our discipline policy.)
My email is english@shcscardinals.org and the school phone number is 526-5328. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I also have a link on Teacher Pages on the Sacred Heart School Website (www.shcscardinals.org). On my website you can find things as assignments, links to helpful websites, and other communication.
Thanks for your help!
God’s Richest Blessings!
